The cross stance is very low and good, just make sure you lock out that back knee completely. Your daughter is so cute, it's great to see her get involved. You are doing great with the situp and stand, next level is, try not to move the feet at all, then put your hands behind your head and don't move it from that position, that will make it harder, the way you are doing it now is already easy for you, time to take it to the next level. L hold is good, just make sure to keep those knees straighter. The arm hardening is ok for now, just try to put more emphasis on the twist on contact. Keep up the good work! You held the horse stance for a long time.
Maybe we'll figure out the mystery of the sit-ups stand ups. I normally don't do many sit-ups unless it's as part of a cardio routine. I prefer crunches better too. I have a workout video where they put their feet up against a wall and pull up into a crunch position. Then they hold it for about 10 minutes and make movements with the arms and some small crunch movements. You can really feel it, and I like it because it's easy to relax and breathe that way. I guess I can be lazy and work out at the same time that way.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01600833461712128174noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2972476768782010154.post-47108147183263336102013-03-04T09:27:29.266-06:002013-03-04T09:27:29.266-06:00I tried to do the L-hold again yesterday so I coul...I tried to do the L-hold again yesterday so I could figure it out, and I couldn't do it very well. I definitely don't bother tucking my feet under anything for anchorage. And yet, the sit-up and stand still has me defeated. I can do it, with fast momentum, but not like the way you ladies do. I would propose it's a gender thing, but Sifu can do them. So that makes me think it mostly has to do with flexibility. You have such a solid horse stance, and ...Wow Lian! You have such a solid horse stance, and very low too! I bet you could out do me, Kiew, and Jenny’s timed horse stance video we did a couple weeks ago. Haha

Sit-up Stand Up- I noticed people use weights to hold themselves down to do a sit-up, and when it comes to the sit-up stand up that’s basically what it is. If you can do a well formed sit up without any weights (or partner) to prevent you from sliding or feet lifting off the ground, and chest fully touching your knees when you get up… then standing up should come easier. I looked back on other videos and most if not all the men seemed to always use weights? I tried looking up what prevents people from doing sit-ups and you need to have a strong core, strong abdominal and strong hip flexors. So seems like you were right on when it comes to abs, and flexibility. This to me makes sense because I noticed in myself I find it takes awhile to have sit-ups feel effective, I rather do crunches.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2972476768782010154.post-24693584878864586962013-03-03T11:12:10.418-06:002013-03-03T11:12:10.418-06:00Lol. me kicking boxes naturally. It's one of those faint memories so I'm not sure if that's exactly what I did, but it made me think I could do it. I just pull my feet close enough to my body that I can push myself straight up.
I was trying to do chin-ups at the park once, and I noticed a man watching me. Which is a big bummer, because I've been waiting for a box-kicking progress vid. I am jealous of your sit-up and stand. I have to use forward momentum to get the center of gravity far enough forward to stand. There must be something either with flexibility holding me back. As for practice in the park, it is really weird that adults don't use the parks. They jog all over the place, but for some reason are very reluctant to do any other form of individual exercise in public. I think people in my neighborhood get a kick out of my morning kung-fu practice. Occasionally someone says something, asking if I had a good workout or something like that when they pass me walking back home. I wish we had bars or jungle gyms made for adults. I can't find any bars of proper grip size set high enough that I can hang at full extension, at least not near my house where I could access it easy every dayAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03462714824823663318noreply@blogger.com
