Dave
Chappelle and Jackie Chan
The
way I view Jackie Chan may be similar to how many educated Blacks feel about
Dave Chappelle. Jackie Chan fucked up
the reputation of the Chinese and encourages the mass of society to continue on
with their racist behavior against the Chinese.
Many blacks have worked very hard towards equality and respect in
America but then Dave Chappelle comes along and makes all sorts of comedy sketches
poking fun at blacks to have the world laugh out loud about the stereotypical
black man. The educated blacks may then
be wondering, what the fuck are you doing Dave?
All
the other races are sitting back and laughing and wanting the entire thing to
continue on for their own entertainment.
But for the blacks, it is not something so simple, if you allow the mass
of society to sit back and laugh at your race, what are you promoting to be
reinforced? You are promoting and reinforcing
racism and stereotypes. That is the cost
of laughter. When you make one person
laugh by talking shit about another, the person laughing will be all smiles,
but the person being laughed at will be in fury.
Here
we had Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. work so hard towards equality and respect
towards blacks and then we have Dave Chappelle coming in and fucking up all the
hard work that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X worked so hard
for.
That
is how I view it with Jackie Chan. Bruce
Lee and Jet Li worked so hard to gain equality and respect in Hollywood but
then we have Jackie Chan coming in and fucking up all the hard work that they
did to gain respect and equal treatment in Hollywood.
That is the reason why racist jokes to me are not funny. It cannot be funny. Racism is something to be taken seriously. It's because of racism war is still going on right now. I do not care if you poke fun at the whites, blacks, Hispanics or the Asians, it is just not funny. We need to grow out of that.
