Philosia: Sidai Shunyuan on sport fighting, UFC, and violence
If you think UFC is the highest level of martial arts then i feel sorry for you. true martial arts promotes inner peace, strength of character, high level of fitness and respect of nature and all life. It is sad that i now have to train to defend myself against all these ufc wanna be bully martial artists. Competition Fighting itself is promoting death and violence. You see when you get to a high level of martial arts you realize that there is nothing to fight for and noone to compete against not even yourself. MMA is negative because it is not balanced yin/yang, there is no peace, no service, no love, no meditation, no art. only bullying and the need for egoic recognition. We need to evolve from this dark cloud of ignorance about martial arts and evolve to a peaceful society. If you want to compete? then have a pull up contest or run a race. But to teach our children and now women that martial arts means being an assbeater then how can we expect to irradicate incidents like at the marathon yesterday? This wold is violent and it needs more peace and reverence for all life. Promoting death will not achieve this. I earnestly ask you to reconsider this MMA bs and ask yourself what am i representing? is it peace and artistic living? or is it violence and primitive ignorance. please always choose peace and remember what is popular in society usually is only popular due to tv ratings and money interests. A true martial artist needs no recognition for he/she has already discovered their identity and dont need to hurt anyone to prove it. be well and be peaceful to eachother.

Great video! Especially enjoyed your critique about imposing one's will. On the other hand, as someone who pays a lot of attention to nature, I don't really agree with the contrasts here between what's human and what's animal. Aside from the very direct acts of feeding, and protecting one's self or one's family, there's really very little violence among most animals. Far less than there is among us, and none of it as detached as point and shoot, or support your troops. I look to the other animals for guidance on how to achieve that piece, harmony, and release of egoistic ambitions you speak of
ReplyDeleteSorry... 'peace'
DeleteI hear what your saying but we as humans are much more complex than animals. We have the power to transcend the stimulus -response mecognism that animals cant. Many humans just relate to their animal needs and desires, and never rise above influence and emotion. Thats what real kung fu is- self discipline and ascending to higher morals and values. thanks for watching Ryan
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell you how many times I watch this video. It is so sad that people see Martial Arts as a way competing with people violently. Because you posted such an amazing video, I was about to write about my experience on the blog but I guess it is too late for that.
ReplyDeleteI think that the way we glorify this type of combat shows to what level of morality our culture has fallen to. Morals are a huge part of how we treat others and how we treat ourselves. If we lack respect for our fellow human beings we will tend to find enjoyement in their suffering. I think that we have lost a large amount of respect not only of others but of ourselves in the last few decades and having two children to raise in this enviroment is going to be a challenge in itself. I could go on for hours about this but I know I would probably just end up repeating myself countless times.
ReplyDeleteThe human brain is so complex, their is so many perspectives on life. As much as the human brain is a gift, it is a double edge sword. A lot of people ain't ready to make this world a paradise. A lot of people grew up in hell and now they want to give hell to others. And in their perspective they are alright and ok and they think their way is the way when it's not. It takes a lot of love and dedication to have enough influence on somebody to help them get in the right way. But you know you made a huge step when you brought some amount of harmony into your soul. Just by putting efforts in the right direction you become a living exemple for others. Keep up the good work!
