I guess the big training news in my life recently has been
the advent of internet service at the Chicago Kwoon, and through this the
option to train in real-time with Shi Zu up to seven days a week. Although I
won’t be able to adjust my work and family schedule to connect like this every
single day, I do plan to take advantage of it as often as I’m available during
the morning and evening sessions. Truly it’s like having the FMK
Kwoon in my basement, extremely convenient, and a major development in the
potential to market and grow FMK online…
I want to thank Todais Fai and Lian for taking the
initiative to donate payment for the first month of this service. I will pay
for next month, and perhaps we can just take turns. Also, I would like to nudge
Todai Kang to consider getting in on this, and then you could get rid of that
expensive gym membership that’s keeping you so broke, lol
Overall, I took things pretty easy this past week. I wasn’t
feeling very good and made the mistake of taking a dose of Robitussin to combat
the symptoms one evening. That kept me feeling loopy and drugged up for a
couple days afterward. My body just doesn’t respond very well to
over-the-counter cold medicines. This weekend, I’ve been back to my normal
self. This morning, even my humor came back, and I finally decided to make that
“kickboxing” video inspired by Kang and Lian…
Tomorrow, I plan to get back into the push-up challenge and
commence my proposed leg challenge. I think Lian and I will continue the
push-up challenge for three more weeks, to make up for some of the lost days,
before putting that one away and starting something new. The invitation is
still open for anyone/ everyone else to get involved (hint Simui Ai)
So that’s about it for me
of late. See you all in class
OH YEAH!!!
ReplyDeleteWHAT'S YOUR SKYPE NAME?
MINE IS papazen0007
It's Ryan Heavy Head... I just sent you a contact request
DeleteGOT IT.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU.
It's great having you 3 in the training live, I very much look forward to the online kwoon of FMK to expand through the addition of the internet at the kwoon, great thing is that I don't have to make any more private videos! Yeah, Kang has to get in on this too!
ReplyDeleteI know! The Skype thing look so much fun right now! Man I suck. Yeah you will not have to make private videos anymore which is great. Can you make a video conference now?
DeleteThanks for thinking of me. I guess I'll have to give the push up challenge a try then! How do I go about it? Should I just go off one of your videos?
ReplyDeleteHere's the day-by-day breakdown... http://freddiesmodernkungfu.blogspot.ca/2013/03/todai-ryans-push-up-challenge.html
DeleteWe (or at least I've) been cheating a bit on the plank holds between the sets, whenever it gets too disruptive to the push-ups that are, after all, the main focus. Are you going to video-record your efforts? I think it's cool you're going to join us in any case. But if you do record, and put them up on your own YouTube channel, I can snag them and upload them to the FMK channel as well
=/ Yeah, I was thinking about how I'd go about recording this. hmmm... between my web cam or digital camera I can figure it out tonight. I don't have a tripod, so I'll have to work around the space at home to see what I can use to hold the camera up. Last resort I can always post my progress weekly through the blog.
DeleteI like how the challenge last about 10-15 min. Weekdays like today I go straight to the kwoon from work in the evening, which leaves me with rarely anytime. So I shall start tomorrow once I get a way of recording situated! *cross fingers*
I have been working on the challenge with my wife, I apparently have been pushing a hand injury to hard according to the doctor. (I recently tore the ligaments in my right hand and have continued to just do enough that the healing is not taking properly.) When I get healed up I intend on playing catch up. The doctor thinks this will be another 2-3 weeks if I can stop asumming that I am immune to physical damage.
DeleteOn the note of the live training, It is great to be able to take part in this. I have not had the chance yet myself, we are still trying to work the kids into the habit of being less front and center and more able to handle themself for awhile. My wife is certianly enjoying it. I think that is is great to have the oppertunity to train like this.
I think I should participate in the live training myself like Sifu and Ryan said. Hey Simui Ai, I have two tripod available for sale. They are completely useless to me because they do not fit my camera. I am selling one for 30 dollars and two for 50 dollars. Interested? They are about 72 inches long...
DeleteKang, Thanks for the offer. I have to admit that I have yet to get started on this challenge. This week has not been a usual week for me, but once I figure out a means of recording I'll let you know? I actually need a new camera anyways. so that's on my wishlist! Thanks again.
DeleteSounds good, Ai. I'll look for something form you tomorrow, if the video thing works out. It is definitely hard to find the time sometimes
ReplyDeleteFai, maybe you should just do the leg challenge for now and let the hand heal. We'll have other upper-body challenges to come in the not-too-distant future
The online training is really neat. That's cool that your wife joins you. My kids are so crazy sometimes, they will make it more difficult. I'm up for the challenge though.
ReplyDeleteYou made box-kicking look pretty bad ass! I liked the slow-motion parts that you added to the video, lol.
I didn't get to make the leg challenge video yesterday. It got interrupted half way through and I really didn't want to redo those squats. I think Fai will do the challenge with me today though. Hope he's feeling up to it.
I had a lot of fun with the box-kicking. But when I was out there, some guy walked his dog past me and was really checking it out. And then when I loaded it on the FMK channel, one of the first people to watch it gave it the thumbs down. I wonder how many people recognize it as a joke
DeleteThat's weird that it would get such a negative reaction. Maybe they worked at the pizza place and didn't like you destroying their pizza box.
