Anger Expressed

Tonight, I felt this tremendous amount of anger that I felt the need to express. I remember that I was very pissed off at a guy in one of my soccer games. He said to one of my teammates: "Why are you like that? You are not playing in Africa motherfucker!" Apparently, he was saying that to provoke one of my teammates so he could get him off the field, but that was such a racist comment. Me and the guy who said such thing could have been good friend but now I lost all respect for him. So what I decided to do is some shadow fighting. I imagined myself beating the shit out of the motherfucker. Yes, it makes me punch and kick harder. However, since my fitness was not as good as they used to be, I feel that my kicks and punches are a little slower than usual. It makes me have to confess something though. I have been really down on my fitness lately. I used to be more courageous about exercising. I want to exercise but my self-consciousness is taking over. I am pretty sure that I can exercise being more courageous on doing the right thing but still if I start exercising again, I better be more fit than I used to be. I will need to be stronger, more flexible and faster like a real Dragon! That way, maybe my shadow fighting will look more fluent. Notice that I didn't say shadow boxing or kickboxing. That is because fighting has nothing to do with either of them. In fighting, everything is used: punch, kicks, weapons, you name it. It's not about style, it's about you expressing your body to get things done as quick as you can. I may not be as fit as I used to but at least I have Sifu Freddie Lee to inspire me to get back on track once again.

  1. I feel you man, when you have that hate for somebody, it gives you an extra energy to train. But, don't let that kind of energy be your main motivation for training or whatnot. You train because you like to train, you enjoy what you get out of it, and you enjoy the moment like when you play soccer. I get you also with the styles, i encourage anybody to get free from styles, but at the right moment. Don't forget that styles can be a platform for you for a while. Everybody gotta start somehwere, Even Freddie used to practice a style which was 'Choy Lay Fut'. Then he got better and better and created later on FMK. FMK teach you to get rid of styles, but he trained a lot and for years and years before claiming such a thing. But for people like you and me and many others, we're not at a level where we should deny styles. We know that in the journey, one day we can create our own thing, and get rid of styles, but that's way ahead. Can you sincerily proclaim that you're at such a high level of martial arts that you're ready to deny all styles? I just think that we're not at that level yet. Of course i'm taking the time to answer to you in that manner because you named 'Kickboxing' which i'm curently studying and practicing. But no offense taking, i understand and your affirmation is in part right. But Freddie can say screw 'Boxing' and 'Kickboxing' because he's at a very high level, when you will reach that level, now maybe you can say such a thing and sound relevant with all my respect. To know true Martial arts is one thing, but to live it is something else. When Freddie starts to talkshit, he's not teaching you to talkshit, all he's meaning is for the people to go beyond the garbage that we're being fed by the media and the fake martial arts. He wants his students and everybody to go deeper and study profondly what is true Martial Arts and express your inner Kung Fu which could have nothing to do with self-defense. If you think for one inches of a second that Freddie Lee is teaching you to talk smack and shit on styles, you don't understand his philosia for one bit. If people could take the time to listen carefully what that man has to say instead of copying him and/or argument with him, FMK would still be on Youtube with maybe even more views and more likes that he used to have. But feel free to talksmack if you want, you're a free man loll.

    1. Haha. Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it. Anger can give you an extra edge but it does not have to be the only reason to train. I guess you are right about styles as well. Styles are just a starting point. Like you said we all gotta start somewhere. Lol. Sorry I did not mean to bash on Kickboxing... Man I better be careful about what I say sometimes. How is Kickboxing by the way?

    3. Kickboxing is fun, but like any other styles that you start with, it is not just about the style in question, it is about the Master or Masters who teaches it. I had the chance to find a school where the teachers are great so it helps a lot. I don't know how long it will takes for me to reach a level where i can get rid of styles, but i don't think about that for now, i just try to focus on the moment and have fun with it. You said you wanted to get back on track, i'm sure you can, just do it, don't think, just put in action, you can do it.

  2. Keep up with the training, don't let the older folks be faster, stronger, and more flexible than you! A big part of being a Martial Artist is that self-motivation to improve Body, Mind, and Spirit for life.

    1. Lol. Alright. I guess I have to compete with the older folks then. But I don't know...you are older than me and more fit than me so I definitely still have a long way to go. On the bright side, I can still work with the nunchakus just fine. I think I even got better at it. However, I need to develop my body more as a weapon. That should be my priority for now.

  3. I kinda do the same thing as well when someone pisses me the fuck off racially. (I jsut shadow box). I see that anger is a good motivation to train and go hard. That's all I can think of. But it's better to control your emotions rather then letting your emotion control you.

I still haven't mastered myself yet because: what I do nt understand about myself is why do I get sooo pissed off when someone attacks verbally in terms of racial remarks. Maybe I am still attach to my ego, or the illusion of being real to myself which is to see yourself racially. What that shows is, I still have work to do in terms of my spiritual development.

    1. Wow.... you are right! I probably am attached to my own ego too. To be honest with you, I say lots of bad things about the white race sometimes. I can get caught up into blaming the whole race without seeing the reality for what it is. The reason why racism exists is because of the ego. I never actually question myself that way but now that you mention it, it is something to think about. Thank you for your input.
