I Eat Roadkill

On my drive to work this morning, I listened to the videos that went up on the FMK YouTube channel the other day about Kosher foods, and the dilemma of whether or not to eat other animals and, if we do eat other animals, how that might be approached most ethically. This is all something that I have dedicated a huge amount of consideration toward. I personally think that the disengagement with our food sources, made possible by our industrialized cultures, is perhaps the worst thing that's ever happened to our species, and that if we want to deal at all with the environmental destruction that we're engaged in, it has to come through renewing our relationship with the physical sources of our life. So this evening, I rather quickly threw together a video to share some of my perspectives on the ethical food matter. In this video, I do deal in part with death and killing, so it might be disturbing for some people. Just wanted to put that out there as a forewarning. There's more that I have to say on the matter, but I thought I'd post a few perspectives up here quickly, while it's fresh in my mind...

  1. Dear Ryan,
I don't have a lot of time this week, since school starts in France, but I wanted to tell you that I took the time to watch your entire video and listen to your thoughts.
I was impressed by your knowledge about nature and felt like anybody that eats meat would greatly gain understanding and compassion towards animals by hunting his own food and cooking it respectfully, at least once in his life.
As I stated earlier, my family, following a discussion with my granmother and my repeated encouragement is starting a very interesting kitchen garden. At least that's a beginning ...
    Take care,

  4. Hey there! Quick question that's completely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My web site looks weird when browsing from my apple iphone. I'm trying to find a
template or plugin that might be able to resolve this problem.
If you have any recommendations, please share. With thanks!
