CLF Practice

Here is a new video of me working on the CLF form.

  1. I think you forgot to punch downwards using your rear hand after using your leading hand to execute the side ward punch you just did.

    1. I think that you're thinking of one of the next steps that I have to learn. I'm not quite to that part yet.

  2. Keep up the good work! Your stances are looking very solid. My main feedback right now is to relax your shoulders and upper body more as you work the hand techniques.

  3. I agree with Sifu (obviously). Your stances are good and your upper body is coordinated with your lower body, which is something I had problems with when learning this form. But there is definitely a stiffness in the shoulders and upper body in general that needs to soften. The other thing I noticed was that your forearm parries should cross your centerline a bit more. Find that door-jam to practice on, and you'll see what I mean, in terms of the alignment. Overall, really good development. You're doing great

    1. Thanks. I have a couple of door-jams that I can practice on.

    2. Door-jams! I never thought about that. Creativity has no limits, does it?

  4. Wow. Your stances are pretty low! Keep up the good work. I agree with Sifu and Todai Ryan. Also after you did the first power punch, your right were supposed to go underneath your left hand too. That part is important; Sifu probably explained. But other than, you are doing great. You got a lot further than me in the forms when I just got into FMK! It took me a long time to get to the Horse Stance punches! You learn pretty quick. Looking forward to see more of your progress.

    1. Thanks, Kang. I actually thought I was a pretty slow learner. I have to practice things so many times before I get it right. I just figure if I'm stubborn enough, I can do it. This is pretty fun though, I think.

    2. Haha. I guess there is beauty in being stubborn. :)

    3. I'm still waiting to see a box-kicking progress video, lol!

    4. I had seriously thought about doing that, haha. Maybe I'll do that for my next video!

    5. Never know... It could turn out to be an important shin-kick training method. We better experiment

    6. Yeah you are right about that. It might sound funny but it does not mean that it's irrelevant. I might try it out someday too.
