  1. I see you got interesting book collection. Echart Tolle seems to be a very wise. I know some of my friends who got the book. They actually like it. Now I always promise Shi Zu that I will promote his book; but I never kept my promise. I hope he does not kill me before I get certified.

    2. I'll have to look into some of those books you mentioned. I have been looking for more good books. I go to the library a lot. They don't have a lot of the books that I really want to get though. The ones that I read recently that stand out are:
-The Japanese Arts and Self-Cultivation by Robert E Carter
      -Bruce Lee: Artist of Life
      -American Shaolin by Matthew Polly
-The Art of Creative Living by Thomas Kinkade.

Some books that I had read a long time ago that stand out to me are:
      -The Stand by Stephen King
      -The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
-No One Here Gets Out Alive by Jerry Hopkins and Danny Sugerman (A biography on Jim Morrison.)

I feel like there are a lot of really good ones that I'm just not thinking about right now. I do plan on getting Sifu's book too sometime soon.

    4. I should look more at the biography and autobiography section in the library here. I'll bet I could find some good books there.
I like the Doors movie too. I used to watch that and Pink Floyd, the Wall also. I think that was another good music-based movie.

  2. Rather than listing specific books, I'll just note some of my favorite authors and their genres: Berndt Heinrich (nature), Marie Winn (nature), Tom Robbins (art fiction), Mark Leyner (art fiction), Neil Gaiman (myth fiction), David Morrell (action fiction), Mark Twain (humanist fiction), Fred Gibson (canine fiction), Eiji Yoshikawa (historical fiction), Tim Ingold (ecological anthropology), Keith Basso (ethnoscience and anthropological linguistics), George Lakoff (cognitive linguistics)

As far as spirituality is concerned, I generally turn my attention toward animals, plants, our world and the cosmos, rather than literature. However, I do find a great deal of wisdom in classic Blackfoot origin stories, especially the detailed versions that have never been written

    1. Interesting, now you are my number one source for books on nature! If you didn't already read it, you might like 'The world without us' by Joel Levy, the concept is simple, if the human race was to vanish right now, how the planet would react? And is there an autobiography on any important member of the Blackfoot community? I would like to read a good factual book about the Blackfoot, i like their culture, thanks.

    2. The best Blackfoot autobiographies are on film, through the NFB (National Film Board). I believe you can watch them online. The first is called Circle Of The Sun, which follows a young Pete Standing Alone during the 1950s, when he was sure that the Blood Tribe Sundance was going to be a thing of the past. The next film is Standing Alone, and catches up with Pete 25 years later, when he's been on tribal council and is currently undertaking spiritual training to participate in the Sundance, which is very much still going. Finally, there The Last Round Up, which brings Pete back again, 50 years after the first film, when he himself is the ceremonial elder teaching the up and coming of the community. I know Pete very well, personally, and this autobiographical trilogy are just awesome time capsules

Beyond that, for factual books about the Blackfoot, you might check out any of the histories written by Hugh Dempsey... which include very good biographies of Red Crow and Crow Foot. Oh, there is an autobiography by Woody Kipp called Viet Cong At Wounded Knee, where he describes what it was like coming home from Vietnam to then fight against the American govt domestically. I know Woody as well, but haven't read his book. He's from Aamsskaapipiikani, the Blackfeet on the Montana side of the line
