Continuing My Training

I have had a head cold this last week, so i haven't been feeling very good. I've still been doing pretty good at training, just slacking a bit on the cardio. Since I can't breathe as well, I get tired quicker.

I have started practicing my punches on BOB. I noticed that my form is pretty bad after watching my video. I will definitely work at improving that. I also sometimes forget to relax my hands after punching. I have been working on that for awhile with the CLF form, and still I sometimes forget. It's fun having BOB, even though I sometimes see him in the corner of my eye and think that there is someone in my house. I'll probably get used to that eventually.

Todai Ryan's Push- Up Challenge is becoming very addictive for me. I am having a lot of fun with it since I am getting better at push-ups now. I recently tried doing some handstand push-ups. I'm not good at flipping over, and my husband is worried that I will kick a hole in the wall trying.

I'm really looking forward to training live online. I probably will either tonight (if my kids aren't being monsters) or in the morning tomorrow. I'm really excited about this new way of training and being able to connect more with the people in Chicago.

    1. It really did drive me crazy the first couple of days. I'm already getting used to it through.

  2. Nice going on the BOB. I wish he could keep me company too so I could hit him out of love. LOL. The push up challenge could work for me too if I did not abuse my computer. Technology is to be used but not maintaining it is irresponsible. Next time, I will take better care of it.

    1. It is kind of fun to have something in the house to punch on, out of love of course. You'd better take care of your technology. You're missing out on lots of fun with the push up challenge.

    2. I know. I am missing out on a lot. Tomorrow I will get a new battery and a new charger. That should do the trick. I will give you some of my progress with the CLF form too.

    3. Hopefully you can get your computer fixed.
I saw your push-up challenge video. The gym setting made it real interesting. I think I'd knock myself out trying to do a kip up on a hard floor like that. I managed to give myself a headache trying it on my carpeted floor here because I hit the floor really hard in the wrong way. Maybe when it is nice outside, I will go outside and practice it a lot.

    4. The landing is important too. I remember one time I perform the kip, I felt something on my knee because I did not land properly. I still have not receive the battery yet but hopefully I will get it on Monday. I will also get the power twister next week too from Shi Zu. How do you feel about being ranked now?

    5. That's cool you're getting the power twister. I'd like to get one soon too.
I'm still thinking about the rank thing. I've been wondering, as an online Todai, how the physical fitness trainer thing could work. I saw your post about the lady who wants you to teach her fitness already.
For now, I will just continue on with my training and see where it leads me. If I did earn rank, I think it would be fun to visit Chicago and take the test there.

    6. That's good. I have a friend in Chicago. Hopefully someday I will visit him and possibly the kwoon too. One more thing, your punches are powerful but you want to protect your throat. If not, it can put your life in danger! Haha.

  3. Bob needs a shirt, haha! I loved seeing the handstand push-up fail. Or was that a new style of breakfall? It's good to be able to laugh at ourselves and embrace the goofy. You probably missed it, but not long ago I posted a video where I slipped during a kick and ended up on my ass. It happens, just like box-kicking, which we need more practice at

    1. My husband had said something about putting a shirt on him too. Maybe we'll find something that fits him well.
I failed in my Wednesday push-up video too. I was trying to do what I think is called a tiger push-up, and on my very first one, I failed. I sat on the floor for a little while trying to decide whether I should just stop the video and start over. I'm glad that I decided to get up and try again. I remember a video that you had made where you said there was a blooper in it. Whenever I tried to watch it, my kids would distract me and I missed the blooper. It might have been the one where you slipped. I was wondering what happened.
A small part of me hates the imperfections in my videos. But for the most part, I have accepted that I am a dork sometimes. If I was only going to share my perfection, I wouldn't have very much to share at all, especially since I am learning something new. Also, I respect Freddie as my Sifu and teacher, so I feel like I should share my progress and where I'm at. If I were teaching somebody, I would want to know what they were getting out of it.

We do need to practice more box-kicking. I haven't seen any videos of your box-kicking progress.

  4. Lian!
Let me just say I believe you have some very strong punches!
If you ever saw mine in person Sifu always says I'm too soft. haha

Nice progress on your headstand push ups! you all make me want to improve my pushups, and wish I got in on this challenge too now!

Can't wait to meet you and your husband training LIVE at the kwoon soon!

    1. Thanks! I wonder if he'd think my punches are too soft too. I know my left arm is a lot more akward. I think my right arm is a lot stronger too from carrying my baby around so much. He weighed 20 lbs by the time he was 4 months old and was very colicky so I carried him around a lot.
You could join the end of our push-up challenge if you want to. We keep extending it because things have been hectic and we've both missed several days on it.
I can't wait to train with you all either! I think it will be a lot of fun. My husband has been working on forming a routine of working out with me before work. It would be really fun if we could train with you guys together.

    2. I talked to Ryan on his latest post. I'll be joining you guys on the push up challenge, starting tomorrow when I figure out a way of recording from home. :) Just the thought of doing it feels like a challenge.lol Now I know how you guys feel recording from home, let alone trying to work out from home since I mainly do all my working out at the kwoon.

    3. That would be very cool if you would join the push-up challenge! It would be a more fun with more people.
It really has increased my push-ups too. In my first video, I think I maxed out at 18 on the first set. Yesterday I did 30.
I'm used to working out at home. My biggest challenge is dealing with my kids at the same time. I also have problems with videos getting interrupted sometimes by my kids, the phone, people at the door... A couple of times I actually did the push-up challenge twice because I was having trouble recording it.
It would definitely be more fun working out at the kwoon than at home.
The live online training is neat. I tried it yesterday. If you watch the new video where they are doing the bench press and squats, you can hear my kids making noises in the background. I thought that was pretty funny.
