Corruptions of Hollywood

My older brother came from Canada on Friday last week, and he heard a lot of great things about Iron Man 3 so he was in such a hurry to give it a shot the next day. He even wanted to watch it on IMAX 3D! That is how crazy he was about this movie. So on Saturday, we decided to go see the movie. Unlike my brother I did not have such a high expectation of the movie; I did not expect anything! I just say to myself: "I will see for myself whether or not it is a good movie." After watching this movie, I did not think it was good at all. It was just full of action, and a clumsy superhero called Tony Stark aka Iron Man. My brother knows the story of Iron Man so he was disappointed with the storyline. I can understand that but I see something far worse than that. Hollywood will used these types of movies to promote negativity. If you watch closely, you will see that they highly promote alcohol, promiscuity, ego! Another thing about superheroes like Shi Zu said is that they are just glorified security guards who does not get paid for their duties. They may think that they are doing the right thing by protecting the people but really they are encouraging people into being overly dependent on them! Instead of helping the right people to defend themselves against threat, they are creating children which is not what FMK is promoting. Even Shi Zu Lee would not want his disciples to be overly dependent on him. Yes dependence is a starting point but not a finishing point! The finishing point is independence which is maturity, responsibility. FMK develop martial artists which are beyond a simple superhero. A martial artist to me should have the abilities of a superhero like Batman; but at the same time be able to help people to be their authentic selves physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Another crappy movie I exposed myself to at my brother's presence is 007 Skyfall. To this day, I asked myself how come people pay attention to these movies? I used to be a James Bond fan but when I was exposed to enlightenment, he is no longer part of me. He is not someone to admire at all. But I understand why he is admired by the population. Apparently, he has a lot of one night stands which appeared to be cool to the masses. I even witness my friends' bragging about ladies they have sex with the first time they met him. That is really stupid, and here are some reasons why. Sex is a way of expressing affection, love. There is no reason to brag about someone you love being in sexual intercourse with! Secondly, have you took the time to get to know her? Do you know how healthy she is? She could have AIDS! I want to see you brag about that! It is just like Osho was talking about in Tantra: either people suppress themselves sexually, or they go indulging themselves in it. That is how the mind is! That is why it has to be drop so the spirit can take over. That is where the body, mind and spirit connection will begin. If anyone saw the movie, James Bond also promote alcohol. Just by promoting this substance, I do not consider James Bond to be a Martial Artist. He is not encouraging the masses to be healthy. Yes he is a commander of MI6 and he really knows how to kill but being a killing machine not a martial artist... Yet, the masses will believe James Bond to be a martial artist just because of the way he fights, which is not what Martial Art is. Then again, Hollywood do not care about the Spirit as long as they can make millions so I guess we are stuck with these movies huh?

  1. I think it's hard to find movies that are really worth watching. I've started watching more movies again. Hopefully I can find some good ones.

    2. I suppose if I can't find any, there are always old cartoons I can watch.
I've been watching some old Asian movies with my husband that have the subtitles, like movies with Jet Li and Jackie Chan. Some are okay. I'm not too much into most war movies though.

    1. Thanks Shi Zu. By the way, how many inches do you think my side split is from the floor?

  3. I am and always have been a huge comic book fan, Its annoying how they have turned all the good superheros from the typical anti-hero a guy with flaws and issues who stands up for others into the commercialized versions. They have to add that "star" quality and again just like with everything else it is no longer about the story as much as it is about profiting from peoples base urges. Yes I like to see things blow up, I enjoy my guns, I enjoy driving fast cars. I do not see the reason to market it as a lifestyle though. I see too many people out there becoming obsessed with the role of those they envy. I personally find nothing wrong with the lessons the old style comics put out, the new interpretation of them. They are constantly being changed and "evolved." (Michael Bay is really good at destroying my favorite childhood shows) I grew up loving teenage mutant ninja turtles. Now they are morphing it into a much more violent and adult themed movie from my understanding. (also MR.BAY its teenage mutant NINJA TURTLES. not aliens from another planet.....) I think that as long as the fans let it get changed at whim that the original meaning behind the super hero is going to be lost. Pretty soon I expect to see them endorsing soft drinks and other products, oh wait too late for that.
