“The existence has to be remembered; then you will not get caught in the net of an egoistic feeling, that “I am special.” The moment you feel you are special, you have lost contact with life, with love, with the totality of the whole – you are alone.” – Osho “Sermons in Stones” pg. 577
In regards to the Martial Arts, I can change the above statement to: Firearms have to be remembered; then you will not get caught in the net of an egoistic feeling, that “I am special.” The moment you feel you are special, you have lost contact with reality and real modern day warfare and survival. When you train with firearms you will quickly understand how ordinary you really are. You are nobody special because you have been training in “Martial Arts” for over 2 decades. You are not better than anyone else, you are not below anyone else, you are simply unique.
When you come to the point in your training when you have destroyed your own ego, when you have destroyed your own self-importance, that is your critical moment of spiritual growth, this will be the true test of time to determine whether or not you really have what it takes to be a Martial Artist. Will you still train in the Martial Arts even though it will not make you anybody special? Will you still train in the Martial Arts even when anybody can just purchase a gun to kill you in an instant?
Do you see yourself as above somebody else because you practice Martial Arts and he does not? If so, you have lost contact with the Tao. When you are at one with the Tao you truly see that you are nobody special, you are just one small part in the entire existence, there is absolutely nothing you can achieve that will make you greater than the whole.
