What's Your Fastest Mile Time?

What's your fastest mile time? The nice thing about running is that it is nonviolent. A Martial Artist can easily test his endurance by running, and if somebody can beat your time, you must allow your ego to accept that you have something to improve upon. And don't give me that bullshit that running has nothing to do with Martial Arts, the physical aspect of Martial Arts means to aim towards total mastery of your physical development as a human being, it means to achieve mastery of your body in every aspect of development. Because that is essentially impossible, it becomes an endless journey of development, and that realization brings humbleness within.

  1. My fastest ever was probably a low 6 minute mile during college. I think it is great that you take your students out of the kwoon to the kwoon that is the world around us to train. It shows that we can definitely train using the everyday objects and structures around us, like those found in a public park. Striving to aim for total mastery is a worthwhile goal, even if it is something we may never achieve in this life. Accepting tha but still striving for improvement is a great mark of humility imho.

    1. If we can aim to achieve fitness feats that are beyond what we were even able to achieve when we are younger that to me is pretty impressive. It is great training outside close to nature, it's a different energy level and a change of scenery from the everyday indoor training. We try to take advantage of the nice weather and train outside when we can.

    2. You are right. Staying in the kwoon would limit one's development. We got to experiment with many different things. I am going to start running more in the summer. I might want to sprint sometimes as well.

  6. Well everything to me has to do with martial arts, because the way that I see it is martial arts is the way of life. So running does have to do with martial arts as it demonstrate the physical component.
